Strange Old Man’s Gothic Fairy Tale

The strange and grotesque characters, strange and supernatural phenomena, coupled with unique scenes and ethereal music, the American director Tim Burton, known as “Ghost Talent,” is full of terror in his works. Wicca, castles, nights, curses and other iconic elements, including darkness, fear, and loneliness, have a typical Gothic style of the Middle Ages. Those stories are similar to fairy tales, but they tend to be more adult, and they have a similar twist with the unabridged “Mother Goose.”

Tim Burton has an overprotected childhood. In this environment, he grew up from an autistic child who likes to graffiti everywhere, to an eccentric old child.

“Edward Scissorhands”

“If I don’t have a knife, I can’t protect you. If I have a knife, I cannot hold you.”

The pale and lonely robot Edward alone lived in the castle until Peggy accidentally broke into the castle and brought him back to herself home. He fell in love with a pure teenage Kin but left alone because of people’s suspicion and fear of hurting girls. That monster with black eyes and distressed of expressions and carefully treatment of others are destined to leave behind a sad fairy tale. Probably even if they can’t be together, as long as see the snow, will know that in the dark castle, that person is still living there is enough.

“Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children”

“Come with me, I have something for you to see, but you have to swear not to escape, the new world is coming.”

This relatively new work continues his fairy tale style. Imagine a girl who the surface is a cute face, behind is the big mouth, a girl who is light enough to float up, a twin who can communicate without talking, and a variation monster that eats an eyeball. These with special abilities children were hiding in space-time corridor, in order to seek self-protection, start a desperate battle with the cannibal variation monsters. The boy is also brave to join after experiencing the escape, and he will harvest affection, love, friendship, and exciting adventures.

“Frankenweenie”

“To do experiments requires courage to try. It doesn’t matter if you fail. Try again.”

An accident took away the little boy Victor’s love pet “Mars.” He put together the broken puppy and revive it by electricity. However, the “Mars” that active are seen as monsters by the people in the town, causing a lot of turmoil.

The reason why Tim Burton’s story is a black adult fairy tale is that he has a unique explanation for the theme of “death,” which is accompanied by despair. He maintained his unique black Gothic wind in his own stop-motion animation, dominated by black and gray tones, and the entire electric image was covered with a gray fog.
